Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This policy covers the Hewn app for iPhone and the Hewn web version at xoborcim.github.io/hewn ("Hewn", "we"). Questions: xoborcim.games@gmail.com.

What we don't collect

Hewn has no accounts. We don't ask for your name or email, and we don't run servers that store information about you. Your progress, records and settings stay on your device, or in your browser's storage on the web.

Ads in the free iPhone version (Google AdMob)

The free iPhone version shows an occasional ad from Google AdMob after a free-play map. These ads are non-personalized: Hewn does not ask for permission to track you and does not use your advertising identifier for personalized ads. To show and measure ads, Google may still process limited information such as your IP address, device type, operating system and ad interactions, for example to count impressions and prevent fraud.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, or another region that requires it, Hewn shows Google's consent message before any ad is requested. The Cartographer's Edition shows no ads. How Google uses information from apps: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Purchases

The Cartographer's Edition is sold through Apple. We never receive your payment details; the app only learns that the purchase was made so it can unlock and restore it.

Usage counts on the web version (GoatCounter)

The web version may send anonymous, cookie-free event counts to GoatCounter: page views, maps started and charted per difficulty, rough solve-time ranges, hints, shares and tutorial progress. No personal data, identifiers or exact times are sent, and you can turn this off in the web version's Settings.

Children

Hewn is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and rights

Where it applies, you can change ad consent in the app under Settings › Advertising › Ad privacy choices, and turn off web usage counts in the web version's settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Since we don't hold information about you ourselves, contact us or use Google's My Ad Center.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows when it last changed.
